Stanton’s City Bites

Stanton'sCityBites-1In a large, white house located in the historic First Ward, Stanton’s City Bites has been serving up arguably Houston’s best burgers for over 40 years. During this time, Stanton’s has received numerous accolades and honors, having been featured on the Travel Channel’s show “Burger Land,” in food blogs nationwide such as “Serious Eats” and voted as Houston’s top burger restaurant multiple times—and for good reason.  The old grocery store shelves and cardboard cutouts may seem a bit odd for a restaurant’s interior, but what this quaint joint lacks in flashy, modern restaurant aesthetics, it makes up for in delicious, mouthwatering burgers and a welcoming, neighborhood atmosphere.

Once you walk in, choose from the variety of made to order burgers, sandwiches and fries featured on the menu. No matter what you choose, you can be sure that it will meet all of your expectations. After ordering, grab a cold drink from the fridge and take a look around the historic restaurant before sitting down at one of the many pop-up plastic picnic tables One of the few things that have changed about Stanton’s interior since it opened in 1961 is the inclusion of a painting of former founder and owner, Art Fong. The painting hangs in the dining room in remembrance of his passing and the dedication reads “The Patron Saint of Burgers.”

Houston is the kind of town where the restaurants with amazing reviews are generally located in a strip mall. Great food can be found everywhere and anywhere in this city. In this sense, Stanton’s is Houstonian at heart. The storefront is nothing fancy and the neighborhood isn’t terribly exciting. Even so, Stanton’s is a diamond in the rough, only this diamond happens to be a mouthwatering, hunger-busting burger.Stanton'sCityBites-2 Stanton'sCityBites-3 Stanton'sCityBites-4 Stanton'sCityBites-5 Stanton'sCityBites-6 Stanton'sCityBites-7 Stanton'sCityBites-8 Stanton'sCityBites-9 Stanton'sCityBites-10 Stanton'sCityBites-11 Stanton'sCityBites-12
